May is Gold Star Awareness month where our nation recognizes the sacrifices of all Gold Star families who have lost loved ones in defense of our nation. We owe our extreme gratitude to these service members and should honor their sacrifices by ensuring their families are taken care of. We do this by helping Gold Star spouses and children receive a quality education.
Last week, we closed the scholarship application period for the 2022-23 school year. We are currently reviewing applications and will notify each applicant by July if they are awarded a scholarship. Without your support, these scholarships would not be possible. Each donation made to The Folded Flag Foundation honors their sacrifice and the selfless service of their fallen hero.
I am also excited to share that our 2022 Salute to Service Gala is planned for Thursday, Sept. 8 at The Pierre Hotel in New York City. More information regarding the event will be announced in the next few months. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Mia Greenlee.

GOLD STAR FAMILY SPOTLIGHT
At The Folded Flag Foundation, we take pride in the families we have supported, aiding in their healing and growth through funding scholarships and connecting them with resources to help cope with the impact of their loved one’s death.
This is especially true for the Hansen Family who lost their husband and father Marine Corps Major Ryan Hansen. The sudden loss of their father was traumatic for the two young Hansen children. Their Folded Flag scholarships allowed the children to attend a small private school that was able to support them both academically and emotionally.
The Loughmiller family has also shared some of the same experiences with the sudden and tragic loss of SGT Loughmiller after serving multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Adrienn shared, “It means a lot to us to get this kind of support, so that she can pursue education at this very special private school. It also means a lot to us, as she knows that her father who served our country is honored, and he is not forgotten. You are changing lives one child at a time, we are so blessed, and we truly are grateful for your support.”
Andrea Perez also shares these feelings, as a spouse who felt she lost her identity with the loss of her husband. “The Folded Flag Foundation has provided tremendous support, has helped with my schooling and has shown me that I am not alone in my journey.”
eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series
The eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series is the premiere esports league, that began in 2010. On Tuesdays, before each NASCAR race, there is an iRace which is simulated at the track on which Sunday’s actual NASCAR race takes place.
As part of Folded Flag’s relationship with Coca-Cola, as O’Charley’s beverage partner, the Coca-Cola 300 iRace on May 24 will feature a branded car for O’Charley’s and Folded Flag.
