I want to start this quarter’s newsletter by thanking everyone who helped make 2018 a great year for The Folded Flag Foundation. Thanks to your continuous support, we were able to award more than $1.8 million in educational scholarships for the 2018-19 school year. That’s nearly $700,000 more than we awarded in 2017!
As we kick-off 2019, our number one goal remains the same – stay committed to helping our nation’s Gold Star families secure an educational future in honor of their fallen loved ones.
If you are a Gold Star spouse or child, or know someone who is, our application period for the 2019-20 school year will open this Monday, March 11. More information can be found below.
Through the generosity of our underwriting partners – Black Knight, Inc., ServiceLink, Fidelity National Financial and Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) – 100 PERCENT of all donations go directly to helping Gold Star spouses and children.
On behalf of The Folded Flag Foundation’s Board of Trustees and operating staff, I offer my sincerest gratitude to everyone who continues to show support in making this incredible mission possible. We would not be able to deliver the impact to our nation’s Gold Star families without each of you. For that, we are extremely grateful and you have our deepest appreciation.

WELCOME NEW FOLDED FLAG BOARD MEMBERS
In January, The Folded Flag Foundation welcomed four new members to its Board of Trustees:
- Anthony DeToto – Senior Vice President, Sentinel Trust
- Phil Dismukes – CEO and Founder, BGI LLC
- Anthony Jabbour – CEO, Black Knight, Inc. and CEO, Dun & Bradstreet
- Kirk Larsen – CFO, Black Knight, Inc.
The Board of Trustees helps govern the strategic planning and oversight of the organization to ensure Folded Flag is supporting as many Gold Star families as possible.
NEVADA RESIDENTS:
Participate in the State’s Largest Giving Campaign
The state of Nevada will be hosting its 8th annual “Give Big” campaign where residents are encouraged to support their favorite local non-profit organization during this 24 hours of giving.
Residents of Nevada, we need your help! Every donation made to Folded Flag through Thursday, March 21, on the Nevada Give Big campaign site, will increase our chances of receiving additional financial support from the state.
Since the Nevada Give Big campaign was founded, more than 15,000 donors have supported nearly 500 non-profits and schools throughout the region, raising $3.4 million in support of the organizations that make our state great. More information on GIVE BIG can be found here.
2019 – 20 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD
The Folded Flag Foundation will be accepting scholarship applications for the 2019-20 school year beginning Monday, March 11 through Wednesday, May 15.
Eligible recipients must be the spouse (all ages) or child (0-26) of a U.S. military or government employee who lost his or her life as a result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations.
Recipients applying for a summer school scholarship must submit their applications by April 15, 2019 for funds to be distributed in early June.
